Strawberries can differ in size and flavor among varieties. Some are best for preserving ('Hood') while others are best eaten freshly picked ('Chandler' and 'Sequoia'). Some varieties produce one crop per year in June, and others are ever-bearing and set fruit over a longer season generally peaking in early summer but continuing sporadically through fall depending on temperature.
