This evergreen shrub belongs to the hydrangea family. Stems are lined with dark green deeply veined foliage with serrated edges. Clusters of hydrangea-like flowers open at branch ends from white buds to flowers ranging in color from pink-violet-blue depending on the soils pH level. Showy iridescent dark blue berries from late summer through winter. Plant in the same shady nooks and foundations one might plant a hydrangea.
