Solenostemon is the genus of these tropical plants grown as an annual for their brilliantly colored leaves. Many varieties exist in the trade today varying in leaf size, colors, and patterns. Some varieties are more tolerant of sun than others. Colors vary in shades and patterns of yellow, green, salmon, orange, red, and purplish-black. Useful in borders as an accent plant or in mass plantings.
