Wild Lilac 'Cliff Schmidt', Feltleaf Ceanothus
'Cliff Schmidt' is a large shrub with a graceful, upright, fountain-like habit and is well suited for coastal gardens. Commonly referred to as Feltleaf Ceanothus, the broad oval leaves are glossy dark green with white felted undersides. Powder blue flowers appear in 5-inch branched clusters in spring and again in fall. In comparison to other larger-leaved species, 'Cliff Schmidt' is perhaps slower-growing but lives longer (20-30 years).
